AI consulting, implementation and training

Equipping people and organisations to get the most out of artificial intelligence, through natural intelligence.

The decisions, the judgement and the relationships that only people have.

Introduction

Manuel Faria

I came up through engineering. I am curious, an enthusiast of technology and passionate about learning. Even so, what moves me is people, and keeping human the things that should stay human. I spent the last eleven years at Microsoft helping modernise the largest organisations in Portugal, and I have worked in artificial intelligence since it started reaching everyone.

Working with AI has made me more aware of how much human skills matter, and how singular each person is. The more capable the tool becomes, the more the result depends on the judgement of whoever uses it, and the more it matters that the thinking stays with the person deciding.

Today I work so that people and organisations grow their own capability with AI, drawing on the assets only they have and on their own way of thinking about the business.

Método Arco

The target is defined before the tool is fired.

Four phases, each with a question and a deliverable. The last question is whether the organisation can carry on alone.

TargetAimDrawFollow-through
  1. Target

Which decisions weigh most on the business, and which indicator do they move?

Target Charter: indicators, measured baseline and definition of success, validated by the client

  2. Aim

Where does AI actually move the indicator, and where does the work stay human?

Use case plan with an estimated return, and the list of what stays human

  3. Draw

How does this become normal everyday work?

Solution in production, team trained and the new process documented

  4. Follow-through

Did the indicator move, and can the organisation now carry on alone?

Impact Report with the indicator before and after, and an autonomy plan

Guiding principles

  • Decisions come before tools.
  • What should stay human is defined up front.
  • Impact is measured in business indicators.

Programmes

Three families, depending on the problem.

Direction, to decide where AI comes in and where the work stays human. Capability and Cost, to raise what the organisation is able to do and lower what it costs to do it.

Direction

Where to go, and within what limits

Capability

Doing what was not possible before

Cost

The same work with less

The first step is a conversation.

Say what needs to move in the business.
